As of 2005, David Latimer was a computer consultant working on Energy Management Systems. He lived in Canterbury, New South Wales. He holds a degree from Sydney University, majoring in Computer Science and Economics.

He has taken a keen interest in the republican debate and organised a forum on Public Participation in the lead-up to the 1999 referendum. He was repeatedly sighted in the 2004 Senate Report titled Road to a Republic.

He holds no political affiliations and takes a dispassionate ideas-based approach to republican issues.
