![]() The Honorary President will have a non-executive, symbolic, ceremonial role, working for the good of the community. They will be an Australian ambassador-at-large, a role model, a patron and a councillor. The salary of the Honorary President will be similar to the Prime Minister's (about $175,000 before tax) and they would continue to live in their own home. He or she would require a small team of assistants and advisors, located in rented offices away from Canberra. Overseas, the Honorary President would be promoting Australian business, innovation and culture. Most importantly they would accept the role as an ambassador for Australian goodwill. In effect, this role would be an extension of the work presently done by our overworked Governor-General and six state governors, the first such expansion in over 100 years. |
